In August I had a lovely holiday in Settle with the family and even managed some walks, we didn't go too far as I have to be fed 4 times a day, because of my condition, and I don't much like walking.
Megaesophagus is a condition where the throat becomes enlarged & food is not pushed into the stomach by the muscles and can eventually cause pneumonia if food or fluid trapped in the esophagus is regurgitated into the lungs.
My dad made me a Bailey chair he'll admit he's no carpenter but it serves it's purpose, although I don't like sitting in there, it's boring especially the 15min waiting time after I've been fed. Sometimes Mum will lift me out & sit me on her knee if she's not too busy.

My name is Brandy and I am a black 12 year old Lhasa Apso. I live with my Mum & Dad in a medium sized pretty village in South Yorkshire.
Something very strange & frightening happened to me on 12th November 2010, it started as a very ordinary day and I had just enjoyed chewing on one of my favourite chew sticks. Suddenly I was repeatably sick & found swallowing very hard, I was frightened & started to tremble and cry.
Luckily the vets are not very far way & although they were due to close they agreed to see me (phew what a relief). This was the start of my battle with Megaesophagus, a condition my parents had never heard of, I would like to clarify that they are not my real parents as there is no family resemblance, they adopted me when I was 12 weeks old & took me to live with 2 other Lhasa Apso's called Tara and Polly.

It really feels that spring is finally here, the sun is shining, the washing is blowing on the line and the Guinea Pigs are having their first day out on the lawn. So what is the problem ?, the miserable Royal Mail man has just called, boy can he put a downer on any sunny day.

He hates his job, he hates this country, can't wait to be able to put in a months notice and then go on the sick. Hmmmmmmmm perhaps it's people like him that is making this country what it is, most of us are happy to work and contribute to society on all levels, then there's the work shy, want something for nothing people in this world. Well if moving abroad is the answer to his problems and perhaps could put a smile on his face, I hope his plans come to fruition sooner rather than later and I can have a postperson who smiles now and again.
Rant over and I feel much better for it, yeah the sun is still shining in my world.

To shop or not to shop

That is the question !, Today has been a day of swilling away the last of the snow & the dirt it leaves behind, how can something so white & beautiful when it first falls become a dirty slurry. Hopefully we will be frost free tonight as my nicely hosed steps & path will become an ice rink, perhaps I should hang a disclaimer on the gate for the paperboy & the postman, yes the postman we are getting post on a Sunday to catch up with the backlog.

To get back to my original train of thought should I fight my way into the local town or shopping mall tomorrow & with all the pushing & shoving come home empty handed, foot sore & grumpy or should I sit here with a nice cup of coffee & peruse some of my friends websites & find that perfect gift for that not so perfect relative.

Well I have made a start already & chosen this blanket for my totally spoilt dog who hasn't been very well lately, she is much improved & deserves a soft fleecy blanket to snuggle up on. I also love the personalised aprons one of those will be perfect for Auntie Susan which one though, decisions, decisions.

My neighbour yesterday demolished his fish pond & brought me a bucket with 30 frogs & loads of newts, I carefully tipped them into my pond & am hoping they will stay. I have an awful feeling they will all be back at his house this morning wondering what happened to their home.

London Marathon

The news & papers are always full of doom & gloom, it makes you believe there is no good left in the world.
Watching the London Marathon restores my faith in human nature, there are so many good, charitable people out there running & walking for their chosen charities, it is so brilliant.
I am really looking forward to walking/jogging in two charitable runs this year on behalf of Wakefield Hospice, the achievement & atmosphere has been indescribable in the last three years events. Better get some training in soon.

Sunshine

What a beautiful day, lots of menial jobs to do but they are so easier to do when the sun is shining. The guinea pigs are out in their pens mowing the back lawn for me so that's a start. Trying hard to resist the stock of chocolate, I need a slimming buddy to help me shed 1/2 stone to get back to my target weight.
Back to listing this evening, still lots of Gisela Graham stock to put on the site.

Winnie-the-Pooh returns after 80 years

Winnie-the-Pooh makes a come back with a new book released on Monday called Return to Hundred Acre Wood , the book is illustrated by Mark Burgess also known for bringing Paddington bear to life.

Winnie-the-Pooh has been given a new friend Lottie the Otter, old friends still feature in the book's 10 new stories, Piglet, Eeyore & Tigger showing the value of friendship & adventure.

Lottie is described as feisty & good at cricket & even swims in Christopher Robin's bath in the new book.

What a surprise to have a stretch of 4 beautifully sunny & hot days, but just to keep my feet on the ground what was I doing, photographing Christmas stock & 2010 calendars & diaries, this years releases are really colourful in a mixture of bright pink & a livid green. We also have a good selection of Violent Veg calendars which are taking some time to photograph as I have to read the hilarious captions, they are so funny.
I will be finishing the photo shoot today & then spending a few hours listing & describing them as best as I can so my customers can choose the right gift.
The advent calendars sold out very quickly so if you would like one, please don't leave that purchase to the last minute.

Blue Nose Friends

It is disappointing to say the least that the August release of the Blue Nose Friends has been delayed until some time in September, I say sometime as I am getting conflicting dates from different Carte Blanche employees.

Most retailers have been told they will arrive by the middle of Sept, I have been told by an executive that it may be another 4-6 weeks before all retailers get their allocation of Blue Nose Friends. Again conflicting information as to why this delay has happened, on the one hand it was said that the bears were arriving from the suppliers at different times rather than the whole allocation being delivered on time, on the other hand I was told that Clintons had secured a deal giving them a one months exclusivity.

If the Clintons deal is true where does that leave the rest of retailers who support Carte Blanche throughout the year, trailing behind with sales I guess, disappointing regular customers who are expecting to see the bears on our websites during August.

I have been assured that this situation will not arise with the November releases, only time will tell.

The special release of Blue Nose Friends such as Breeze the Butterfly & the Bat due to be released in November is another contentious issue, which I will cover nearer the time.

My views have been put into writing to Carte Blanche which resulted in a friendly conversation with the Chief Executive which hopefully may result in changes in the way large companies view the importance of Online retailers.

Boo the snow is back, falling heavily when I left work but had petered out by the time I reached home, but thankfully our weather is easier to withstand than the awful conditions in Australia, thankfully my brother although in Melbourne is so far safe.

Hooray the snow is melting, it was great at first for the children to sledge & make snowmen but it really has stayed too long this year.

The snowdrops are out & plenty of other bulbs are showing their leaves lets hope we have a brilliant spring.

Easter stock will be arriving later this week from Gisela Graham & hopefully plenty of the lovely pin cushions we sold out of in the autumn.

We have added some new TY products to the site & are also looking forward to getting the new releases of Blue Nosed Friends, this month they are Bobbin the Horse, Milkshake the Cow, Gum Gum the Koala & Mo the Kangaroo.
